3D Printed
Caring for your PLA 3D print properly helps it stay durable and look great over time ! Here’s what you need to know:
- Gentle Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down your print. Avoid Harsh Chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners, as they can weaken or discolor PLA. For tougher spots, use a little mild soap with water, then rinse and dry fully.
- Mind the Temperature: PLA (Polylactic Acid) is sensitive to heat and can start to soften or warp at temperatures as low as 60°C (140°F), So, avoid placing your print near heat sources, like radiators, direct sunlight, or in a hot car.
- Avoid Hot Cars: Cars can get extremely hot on warm days-often reaching temperatures above 60°C even when its just 25°C (77°F) outside. This level of heat can cause PLA to deform or warp, changing its shape permanently. Keeping it out of these conditions will help maintain its original.
To clean residue from your PLA bong without damaging it, follow these steps:
- Rinse with Lukewarm Water: Start by giving it a gentle rinse with lukewarm (not hot) water to loosen residue. Avoid hot water, as it can warp PLA
- Soak with Mild Soap: Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild dish soap. Submerge only the areas with residue for a few minutes, then use a soft brush or cloth to scrub gently
- Use Alcohol Sparingly: PLA can react to alcohol, but for stubborn spots, try dabbing a small amount to a cotton swab to spot-clean only the residue areas. Rinse immediately after.
- Rinse and Dry Thoroughly: Rinse of all soap and any alcohol traces with lukewarm water. Pat dry with a cloth and let it air-dry fully.
By following these steps, your PLA piece will stay clean and in great shape!
